for the vision that inspired it;

for the skill of those that designed and built it;

for the time, talents and gifts used in its construction;

for the village and people that supported it;

Accept this work and us to further your purposes in the world.

It is a votive gift cast in silver offered at a nearby early Christian Shrine. Note the Chi – Rho .On the other side it is inscribed in Latin: Amcilla Votum quo (d) promisit conplevit. (Amcilla has fulfilled the vow she promised) Much of the Water Newton Treasure, including the cups and plates, was inscribed with the Chi – Rho.
