Archdeacon:
Let us pray;
Archdeacon:
Blessed are you Lord God of all
Creation;
We give you thanks
and praise for this work we celebrate today;
for the vision that inspired
it;
for the skill of those that
designed and built it;
for the time, talents and
gifts used in its construction;
for the village and people
that supported it;
Accept this work and us to
further your purposes in the world.
Blessed be God for ever.
Archdeacon: In the Faith of Christ, for
the benefit of his holy church
And for our
community here,
We bless and
dedicate the Cedar Centre
To the greater
glory of God,
In memory of
Charles Winfrey,
And with grateful
thanks to all who made this project possible;
In the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. ALL: Amen.
A drawing of one of the items of the Water Newton Treasure.
It is a votive gift cast in silver offered at a
nearby early Christian Shrine. Note the Chi – Rho .On the other side it is
inscribed in Latin: Amcilla Votum quo (d) promisit conplevit. (Amcilla has
fulfilled the vow she promised) Much of the Water Newton Treasure, including
the cups and plates, was inscribed with the Chi – Rho.
