Collect (special prayer) for today
– Remain standing
Priest Let us
pray
Reader This is the Word of the
Lord.
I
vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
entire and whole and
perfect, the service of my love:
the love that asks no question, the love
that stands the test,
that lays upon the altar the dearest and the
best;
the love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
the love
that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
And
there’s another country, I’ve heard of long ago,
most dear to them that love
her, most great to them that know;
we may not count her armies, we may not
see her King;
her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is
suffering;
and soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
and
her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.
Reader The Lord be with you.
All And with thy
spirit.

THE
DECISION
Priest You seek baptism for this child. As
she grows up she will need the help and encouragement of her family and friends.
Will you help her be regular in public worship, and in private payer, not only
by your teaching but also by your example and prayers, and encourage her in due
time to come to Communion and Confirmation?
I am willing.
Priest Those who bring children to Baptism must affirm on the child’s behalf their allegiance to Christ and their rejection of all that is evil. It is your duty to bring up this child to fight against evil and to follow Christ, Therefore I ask:
Priest Do you turn to
Christ?
I turn to Christ.
Priest Do you repent of your
sins?
I repent of my sins.
Priest Do you renounce
evil?
I renounce evil.
ANNOINTING WITH THE OIL OF
BAPTISM
Priest May almighty God deliver you from
the powers of darkness,
and lead you in the light
and obedience of Christ.
BLESSING OF THE
WATER
Godparents’ candles are lit
from the Paschal Candle.
Priest Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ
was baptised in the River Jordan. We thank you for the gift of water to cleanse and revive
us.
We thank you that through
the waters of the Red Sea, you led your people out of slavery to freedom in the
promised land.
We thank you that through
the deep waters of death you brought your Son, and raised him to life in
triumph.
+Bless this water, that your
servant who is washed in it, may be made one with Christ in his death and
resurrection, to be cleansed and delivered from all sin. Send your Holy Spirit
upon her to bring her to new birth in
the family of your church, and raise her
with Christ to full and eternal life.
For all might, majesty,
authority and power are yours now and forever.
All
Amen.

OFFERTORY HYMN
The Altar is prepared for
Communion
Lord, for the years your
love has kept and guided,
Urged and inspired us,
cheered us on our way,
Sought us and saved us,
pardoned and provided,
Lord of the years, we bring
our thanks today.
Lord, for that word, the
word of life which fires us,
Speaks to our hearts and
sets our souls ablaze,
Teaches and trains, rebukes
us and inspires us,
Lord of the word, receive
your peoples praise.
Lord, for our hopes, the
dreams of all our living,
Christ and his kingdom one
united aim;
Rulers and peoples bound in
high thanksgiving,
Lord of our hopes, our trust
is in your name.
Lord, for our land, in this
our generation,
Spirits oppressed by
pleasure, wealth and care;
For young and old, for
commonwealth and nation,
Lord of our land, be pleased
to hear our prayer.
Lord, for our world; when we
disown and doubt him,
Loveless in strength, and
comfortless in pain,
Hungry and helpless, lost
indeed without him:
Lord of the world, we pray
that Christ may reign.
Lord for ourselves; in
living power remake us,
Self on the cross and Christ
upon the throne;
Past put behind us, for the
future take us,
Lord of our lives, to live
for Christ alone.
THE
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER (Prayer of Thanksgiving)

again
The priest continues with the prayer ending:

Lord
By whom, with whom and in

heaven,
Hallowed be thy
name;
thy kingdom
come;
thy will be
done;
on earth as it is in
heaven.
Give us this day our daily
bread.
And forgive us our
trespasses,
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into
temptation;
but deliver us from
evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
Priest We break this bread to share in the
Body of Christ.
All Though we are many, we are
one body,
