This index on pages 2 - 48 includes all entries recorded in the Marriage
Register 1754 - 1812 for the Parish of Castor, Northamptonshire, England.
The original parish record is identified at the Northamptonshire Record
Office as 60 p / 13. Marriages and banns are indexed for both brides
and grooms. When the event is also included in the 1994 International
Genealogical Index, it is indicated with IGI noted in the record column.
The marriage register transcript pages number 1-87.

CASTOR is located in county Northampton, 4 1/2 miles west of Peterborough
comprising chapelries of Sutton and Upton and hamlet of Ailesworth;
population 1,198 in 1831; archdeaconry Northampton, diocese Peterborough.
Castor Parish Records survive from 1538.
My intent in choosing this format, i.e. alphabetized surnames with
events chronologically arranged, was to provide work sheets for further
research on family lines. Additional sources can be noted under the
`Record' column which verify information or document discrepancies.
The index does not include all information found in the register. While
this index has been made with great care, omissions and errors may have
occurred; therefore, it would be prudent to also consult my transcript
and the parish register photocopies located at the County Record Office
if a primary source is needed.
I appreciate those who created and preserved the Castor records and
the helpful professionals at the Northamptonshire Record Office who
made transcription and indexing possible. Without my husband Donald
G. Spencer's support, this study would not have been possible. The hope
that this document would be of some help to others, prompted our efforts.
