Examination of 16 Dec 1826 states that Samuel Baker believed he was born in Upton and is now 18 years of age or thereabouts. Last Michaelmass two years ago, he let himself to William Bate of Ailsworth in the said Liberty Square for a wage of £4 for the year, then after to William ?Hormment of Thorney Dike for a year, but left in consequence of illness etc….
